East Mecklenburg High School students, Blair Riggsbee ‘17 and Jensine Crowder ‘19, competed at the Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Culinary Competition, February 10, 2017 at Johnson and Wales University. The team scored a perfect 100 and brought home the Gold to East Meck. Their stellar performance preparing a Spinach and Arugula Salad with Almond Coated Goat Cheese and Vinaigrette, Herbed Apple Glazed Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Butternut Squash with Brown Butter not only landed them a perfect score, but earned both girls scholarships to Johnson and Wales University.
Riggsbee and Crowder, along with their Culinary Arts teacher, Dale Richardson, will represent East Meck at the National Competition in Nashville, TN scheduled for July 2-6. This with be the first time either girl has visited Nashville. They are excited to travel, compete and represent East Meck.
